Butler, Donna

Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Donna Butler

I graduated with high distinction earning a four year degree of Bachelor of Arts in Education in only three years and started teaching in the Washington State school system at age 20.  Endorsements include P-2 Early Childhood Education; K-8 Elementary Education (all subjects); 4-12 English and Special Education.   Extensive post graduate studies include a 5th year at University of Puget Sound and a two year Masters of Education from the University of Idaho. I scored the second highest score on the PRAXIS special education assessment upon completing my degree.  Besides general education experience in multiple grade levels, I was the coordinator of a BIA Family and Child Education (FACE) program where I handled budgeting and supervised staff running a preschool, GED program, parenting education and two staff who provided in home parenting education for the Parents as Teachers program.   As a member of the national family literacy team I was a session presenter at the 3rd Annual National Conference on Family Literacy.  I also was a guest presenter at the 1994 Even Start National Conference, speaking on understanding the various cultural perspectives that families and staff bring to school or work.  As part of my work I traveled to tribal schools around the nation in the FACE training of trainers program.
In 2005 after earning my Masters in Special Education I joined North Kitsap School District first teaching Life Skills, then ISP and finally Resource Room.
