About Mrs. Trunkey, Librarian

Mrs. Trunkey

Originally from Rhode Island and a graduate of University of Washington with an undergraduate degree in Botanymoved to Kitsap County with my husband, Steve Trunkey, in the early 1990’s.

joined the North Kitsap School District in 1999, working first as a Science Teacher at Kingston Junior High School, then on to the Pearson Elementary School where I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades until 2014.

Now in my fourth year as a librarian, can often be seen in the library teaching students library and technology skills, reading with students, preparing the library MakerSpace, hosting our STEM Nights, or reading with families at our Family Reading Nights.

Why a Librarian?

Being a librarian is the perfect match for me! I love providing information technology instruction to students, promoting the love of reading, and managing the library's vast collection of over 25,000 print and electronic resources! I am amazed at the stellar quality of literature available to our youth and feel extremely privileged to provide a robust library program to all of our patrons.

Outside of the library, I am an avid sailorgarden enthusiastand a voracious reader! I hail from a large family of eight children, so visiting family around the world tops my list of things I love to do in my spare time. My husband and I are both long-time supporters and Board Directors of the Kitsap Sailing and Rowing Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting the sport of sailing to Kitsap County youth.

Mr. Trunkey and I are the proudest parents of our daughter Allison, who will be a senior at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York this fall.
