WaKIDS

Welcome to kindergarten at NKSD! As part of your child's start to school, we participate in WaKIDS (Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills), a program with three components designed to set every child up for success:

• Family Connection: One-on-one meetings between families and kindergarten teachers in September or October to build open communication and a strong home-school relationship.
• Whole Child Assessment: Teachers identify each child's strengths to provide targeted support where it is needed most.
• Early Learning Collaboration: Aligns early learning and kindergarten practices to support a smooth transition into school.
